Cyprus posts 1.5% budget surplus in first quarter

Cyprus recorded a general‑government surplus equal to 1.5 percent of GDP in the first quarter of 2026, slightly below the 1.6 percent surplus in the same period last year, according to preliminary figures from the Statistical Service. Total revenue in the quarter rose 5.4 percent, while total expenditure increased 7.3 percent, the agency said.
